I have a scratch on my car ,i used touch up paint on it?

ii used the sae color touch up paint to cover the scratch but it looks like fingernail polish,what can i do to smooth out the touch up paint so that it will blend in well with the rest of the car,without spending to unchI have a scratch on my car ,i used touch up paint on it?
You should have gotten a little bottle of clearcoat and another little bottle of stuff that matches the color to the car. If you ordered your paint from a dealer ship...then they should've given you everything you needed.


I got ';nailpolish'; paint from the dealer my car came from and they only gave me the paint...when they should've given me all of it.


I found out they should've from my father in-law the next day. So we went back and told them what was up. They removed the paint I had put on and did it themselves for screwing up.

Just leave it be, you've done what you can.
The spot must be sanded with fine grit sandpaper not to the metal, just to smooth it. Then you have to spray paint the spot two or three light coats letting it dry between coats. then you need poly coat on top of that then a light buffing.

i own a shop and if its a deep scratch in it you,ll never get it to blend in real good,on those the only way you can really make it match up right is to sand the door down paint and re-clear it,and buff it in until it does match,you might wet sand that spot a little and then buff it out and then wax it t make it blend in a lot better,other than that it will always be noticeable good luck i hope this helps.
touch up paint rarely matches. unless its a flat color (this is a color without metalics or pearls) the reason is most factory paints have metalics and/or pearls in them. now toyaota has serval lins with just base toners you can brush touch them let dry was and wax it good and you will not see them unltill your about 2 feet away. the brush touch that comes with or that you buy is not ment too look like nothing has happend its ment to cover the metal and seal it so it will not be damaged by the elements. theres alot of colors that stand out. no amount of sanding and polishing will make it look better then a good wax job. and if you are going to have the spot cleared its not much more to have it painted.


now then i would not putt alot of effort in this if your car is a daily driver. its just a fact of life the more u drive your car the more damage happens to the paint. these show cars you see are not driven every day if at all.


the other reason that your brush touch wont ever match *(if it has metallics or pearls ) is that the brush displaces the metallics and pearls different then a spray gun, a differnet sized tip on your spray gun will also displace it diffferent.


chances are that know one will notice your brush touch YOU just do becuase you know where it is


and dont sand it just leav it alone the bigger the area u sand the mnore you have to brush touch and if you reclear the area (which will cost you 100-200 bucks) your brush touch will still stand out, you can have an autobody shop fix it paint it for about 300-400. the more you mess with it the more a bodyshop will charge to fix it
