Its not so much psi as really the cfms that matter for you idiots out there that is cubic feet per minute.I'm going to do a paint on a car job please help?
you can go less but just type into search box the info you want like how to set paint spray gun pressure

how to paint car

things like that should get you the info you need i think 125 is way to much more like 80 or 90 pounds
your probably using a siphon feed gun which is around 50psi. If your using a HVLP it is around 20-25psi depending on tip sizes of both guns and type of paint enamel or base clear
You should not need that much pressure on a siphon feed gun to paint with,,, the actual pressure in the compressor tank may run that high, but there should be a regulator on the line coming out of the compressor so You can adjust the air line pressure down to say, 25-50 psi at the most. Never run a gun higher than than what is labeled on it ( or the instructions that came with it) get some white cardboard and practice playing around with the thing until Your OK with spraying on a vertical surface a nice film that won't run, cause nobody can really just pick up a gun and paint perfect with it, unless They know it well... make sure You thin the paint too, it will be about water- thin when mixed correctly..... I hold a light in one hand %26amp; paint with the other so I can SEE how thick It is going on. You want a nice heavy film, that won't run. At least 2 coats, spraying one direction and then the other(or follow the directions, I at least read them for guidance-

take Your time, spraying is the fastest, easiest part...good luck, Man!
25 - 40 psi max otherwise at 125 you will paint everything at once when the gun explodes
