What do you need to know when giving your car a groovy paint job?

I've just gotten an super cute bright baby blue 1967 VW bug, and I've been considering painting some cool designs on it...like a sunflower here, a peace sign there...

Anyways, what is the process for that? Is there a special type of paint you have to use? Do you have to sand the car down? What are good brushes to use? Any and all info you can give would be fantastic!

Also...all though I'm totally cool with unique (code for less than perfect) designs, say I did decide to go with the stencil route...are there any good websites for finding a wide variety of stencils? I'm looking for things like flowers, leaves, suns, etc....not flames and skulls.

Thanks so much! Peace and Much Love. What do you need to know when giving your car a groovy paint job?
well do you want a real job or just put crap on car?? all what you want. enamel is good, urethane is the new wave paint, stencils well try custom paint or bodyshop, or art supply sites, its if you want to riun your car for re-sale, i mean well will it sell later ,you might want a pro job but $$$ do it yourself and have fun so you will be proud you did it. To do just spots do area to be a pic, if get involved you sand whole car then do pics then clear .
