I have a lot of tiny spot on my engine hood that is rusty. I clean the rust out, and applied a factory touch up paint by dabbing it on the hood. Then, used 2000 grid wet/dry sand paper to remove the paint that got on the hood around the dotted area. Now put rubbing compound, then put on a clear coat on top of the new touched up painted area. I am waiting for it to dry and going to buff it out. The question is... how come it does not look/feel smooth around the painted area? You can see spots that are touched up.Does car touch up paint job really work?
you'll never get it perfect, but if you get it unoticeable from 10' I'd claim victoryDoes car touch up paint job really work?
Big thing is you're stopping the rust from digging deeper.
