What is lacquer thinner paints used for in car spraying in the uk and does it contain lead?

Be careful! There are two types of lacquer-nitrocellulose (usually used on wood) and acrylic (usually used on cars.) They are not interchangeable!. Be sure to get your thinner at the same place you get the lacquer, regardless of price, to make sure they are compatible. I gummed up and ruined a spray gun not being told that...

Best regards,

Lacquer thinner has no lead in it.It's used as a universal type of solvent in most types of auto paint. But it's main purpose is in cleaning spray equipment. What is lacquer thinner paints used for in car spraying in the uk and does it contain lead?
Won't have any lead in it. What it is though dunno. I've always used ';cellulose thinners'; but there are hundreds of different ones - i guess it depends on the paint?
