Model paint used to be available about everywhere but the supplies are not like they used to be. Walmart, A C Moore, Hobby Lobby, Hobbytown USA, Ben Franklin, Micheal's and your local hobby store should have it. Testors is probably the most common. You can use about any paint that is compatible with plastic. For car bodies a spray paint is that way to go. Before you paint a model car was it first in water with a mild detergent to take any oils off of it that were used to release it from the molds. Find the color you want and spray away. Watch out that you don't put it on too thick because it will run. Light passes 12-18 inches away seem to work the best. You can use a coat hanger bent to hold the body so that you dont get paint on you or finger prints in the paint. When the paint is dry, really dry, inspect the body carefull not get touch it. You will always find places that you missed. Respray and inspect until you are satisfied. If you think you are about to run of paint in a spray can. STOP! Start using another can. Not doing so will mess up your paint job. Most cars can easily be painted with one can.

Get a selection of brushes for the smaller details and the colors you need. Most of this paint is oil based so get something to clean your brushes. I use fingernail polish remover (acetone). It will clean them for reuse. I don't recommend using it to remove paint from the model however because it will eat the plastic. If you have to remove paint soaking the model in brake fluid will work.

Remember that when you assemble the model to painted surfaces will not glue together, they must be bare plastic. You can sand away or scrape away paint with sandpaper or a hobby knife.

When you do the trim, you can paint it or there is adhesive foil that will peel and stick that you can use for chrome trim that if you make a mistake you can pull off, this is much more forgiving than paint.Ertl amt.. car model scale???paint?
ANY good model / hobby shop !!

I use Testors paint and cement, they have an excellent series of auto-paints.

Tools you should have: an Xacto knife with #11 blade, parts ';nipper';, tweezers / forceps, emery boards or foam-nail-files
