Paint rubbing off car?

I was cleaning my girlfriends red 94 blazer, which has an aftermarket clearcoat(not well done either) and when I scratch doctor to the hood my pad came up bright red. This has to be some form of paint transfer. I use the same product on my 02 Explorer and have never had this happen before. Can anyone explain why this is happening and if there is a way to fix it?Paint rubbing off car?
To answer your question. Back in the 90's the paint that was used on red chevrolet cars was bad about oxidation (spell check that)

My grandfather had a red S-10 1995 to be exact..It did the same thing.

Especially if the vehicle has been sitting in the sun for a long period of time. The only way to combat this is to use a good moisture rich wax that will add oils back to the paint..while this won't fix the problem it should slow it down a lot.

Being an after market paint..Depending on when this was painted, it could be the same problem as factory paint..

hope this helps.Paint rubbing off car?
I don't know anything about why it happened and am glad the first two posters did! But I can tell you that, if the paint has come off enough to be noticeable and it needs repainted, you can use Rust-O-Leum spray paint in the same color (if it's available). A can of some sort of goop (smelled like turpentine) flew out of a painter's truck onto the hood of my car a while back and when we took it off, the paint came off as well. It was, thankfully, only in a small area and there was just one dent in the hood that didn't necessarily need fixed so we just cleaned it up and then sprayed it with the Rust-O-Leum to match and you can't even tell where the paint was missing now.
i think the aftermarket clearcoat wore off (probably mother nature's doing). clear coat is not supposed to have a color at all so thats the paint coming off. you might want to consider getting it professionally repainted or at least put some clear coat on it. i dont really know too much about old cars but thats what it sounds like. you could put some heavy duty wax on it too
