Buying a used car but the paint is chipping. What are the risks?

I've thoroughly checked out a 96 Toyota Corolla at a local used car dealer. Everything checks out, engine appears to be in good condition, the mileage and the price are right.

The only problem is that the car was completely repainted after being in a small wreck, and now the paint is beginning to chip off in several places, leaving the metal exposed to the elements. So far all the places are only pea-sized, but rust has already shown up in one spot.

If this is the only problem with the car, should I buy it? Or am I likely to have growing problems with paint peeling and rust?

Would appreciate some advice.Buying a used car but the paint is chipping. What are the risks?
It's going to be a rust bucket before long. If you do get it sand the spots that are rusting touch them up and keep it waxed at least every 3 months or shoot some clear coat over the paint after touching them up.Buying a used car but the paint is chipping. What are the risks?
It's your money to spend and once you do so, it's your car for good.

You decide how you want to deal with this knowing that.
